Call for RAAS – Fulbright Conference Topics

The RAAS board is seeking topics for the next RAAS-Fulbright Conference to be held in October 2014.   Considering the large variety of research in the American Studies field from inter- and cross-cultural perspectives, we welcome any new topic proposal which would be challenging enough, thoroughly supported by recent bibliography, and inciting enough to attract a large number of participants.   Deadline for the conference proposals: May 15, 2013 E-mail: [email protected]

RAAS Graduate Student Awardees 2012

The Romanian Association for American Studies has awarded the following RAAS members for their dissertations defended in 2011 or 2012 and submitted for the Graduate Student Award: Sorina Chiper, Alexandru Ioan Cuza University of Iași, for the best PhD dissertation;Cristina-Maria Nițu, University of Bucharest, for the best MA dissertation.  The announcement was made during the general RAAS meeting held as part of the 2012 RAAS-Fulbright Conference.

RAAS Graduate Student Award (GSA) – Deadline Extension

Requirements and Evaluating Procedure (2012) The Romanian Association for American Studies will reward one best MA dissertation and one best PhD dissertation submitted by graduate students and/or junior faculty members. The MA dissertation award will consist of a 150 euro prize and the PhD dissertation award will consist of a 250 euro prize as well as an official document certifying the receipt of the GSA. 2011 EAAS Rob Kroes Publication Award

The European Association for American Studies (EAAS) is pleased to announce its biennial award for the best book manuscript in American Studies. The award is named for Rob Kroes, who served as Treasurer (1976–1988) and President (1992–1996) of EAAS. For many years, Rob Kroes also edited the series European Contributions to Americanwhere the EAAS Biennial Conference volumes appeared from 1980 to 2006. 2011 EAAS TRAVEL GRANTS

The European Association for American Studies invites applications for the 2011 EAAS travel grants. Postgraduate students in the Humanities and Social Sciences who are registered for a higher research degree at any European university, and are members of an American Studies association may apply. Two kinds of grants are available: the Transatlantic Grant and the Intra-European Grant. It is expected that four scholarships will be available this year.
